about

Well, I have been holding back the publication of "Strabismus" (a companion piece to "Muscae Volitantes") to wait for the inclusion of a "new" track that is in the works ... however, that track has by now taken a new direction, which might warrant a context of its own. So, without further ado, I give you "Strabismus"!

This is the scraping of the barrel as far as Gyron V goes; these are the last few recordings that I feel ok with sharing, even though they are severely flawed and sometimes bordering on being an embarrassment to me (because my English has improved over the years, and because I probably should not have been drinking so much while recording).

That being said, I might of course revisit these old songs at some future date and finally bring them out of their prolonged state of incompletion ... But as far as old material goes, this is definitely the end of the line.

As with "Muscae Volitantes" these tracks were mostly recorded around 2003-2005 for the 5 original demos, with a few songs being added a little later (around 2008) for the EP that was recorded for CMI (but never released).

I will do a track by track write up over the next months, but for now you will have to make do with the music itself.

Oh, and while this might look like a very short compilation with only a few tracks, there are actually 6 hidden tracks that you get access to if you buy the download! I did not do this as a merketing ploy, but rather because these particular tracks are exceedingly rough and will probably just appeal to the hardcore aficionados.

Some of these hidden tracks might actually count as Proto-Gyron, and as you will hear I had yet to settle on a particular style for the project, and some of the tracks are even from the summer when Gyron V was an actual band. So you will get two songs that are presented in two very different idioms, as well as a brand new mastering of "The Shepherd of the Owls" (because the esteemed Mr. Kulberg just felt like upgrading it while he was busy salvaging the rest of the material).
